In November 2018 the voters of the Southern Marin Fire District passed a parcel tax measure which included the creation of a citizen oversight committee. The oversight committee is charged with the responsiblity of reviewing annual audit reports on the collection and distribition of measure U funds. The measure detailed how the funds were going to be spent, including the funding of new programs and services to address the risks from wildfire.
The District has been seeking applicants for the oversight committee but to date has had a limited response. Citizens who are interested in applying for the Oversight Committee should contact the District and complete an application. The closing date for applications was extended to June 15, 2019.
