Noteworthy Incidents recorded from Southern Marin Fire District's Deputy Chief of Operations:

August 17, 2024 - Mutual Aide. The Southern Marin Fire Protection District resources Truck 4, Engine 607, and Engine / Rescue 9 provided assistance to a three-alarm commercial fire in Fairfax.  The fire originated from an auto mechanics shop, extended to multiple vehicles as well as the adjacent hillside vegetation.  The structure fire was quickly extinguished as well as the vehicles and approximately a ½ acre of vegetation in the area of Red Hill Shopping Center.

● Southern Marin Fire District personnel are prepared, ready, and have been very vigilant getting into our communities to discuss fire prevention, evacuations, and preparedness throughout the last several months. Crews have been training, planning, and pre-planning and will continue to maintain awareness of local weather conditions by monitoring fuel moisture levels, temperatures, and forecasting models.
