Southern Marin Fire Protection District conducts a physical fitness program which allows opportunities for its firefighters to improve their physical well being and enhance their personal wellness.

The purpose of the program is to help effectively deal with the physical stress associated with all risk emergency services. In order to do this, firefighters need to know how to attain and maintain a high level of physical fitness. Our physical fitness program does so by providing education and tools to on-line personnel regarding cardiovascular fitness, muscle endurance, muscle strength, flexibility and nutrition.

The program itself helps to contribute to the physical readiness of firefighters while helping to raise awareness of and leading to the ability to live a healthy personal lifestyle for the firefighters.
