PHOTOVOLTAIC SYSTEMS AND ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEMS: The following inspections should be requested for permits that have been issued for photovoltaic systems and energy storage systems.
The inspection will be an on-site inspection. The approved set of plans shall be on site. All shutoff switches will be tested at the time of the inspection and must be operational.
- MARIN COUNTY- UNINCORPORATED MILL VALLEY- PV and/or ESS Final Inspections
- PV Only inspection (Rooftop solar only) Note: A fee will be required to be paid when scheduling this inspection.
- ESS Only inspection (Battery Storage Systems) Note: Additional fees may be required for battery storage inspections.
- PV and ESS Inspection (Battery Storage Systems and PV system Installation) A fee will be required to be paid when scheduling this inspection.
- TIBURON
- PV and/or ESS Final Inspection (A fee will be required to be paid when scheduling this inspection.)
- ALL RE-INSPECTIONS
- PV and/or ESS -Re-Inspection to Verify Corrections (A fee will be required to be paid when scheduling this inspection.)
STAND BY GENERATORS: The following inspections should be requested for permits that have been issued for standby generators.
SCHEDULE

General Construction Inspections- The following inspections should be requested for projects that are not considered substantial remodels and have no fire protection systems installed.
Deferred Submittal Inspections- The following inspections should be requested if a project is considered a substantial remodel, at least one deferred submittal was required by the Fire District, and/or if a fire protection system is installed or modified.

- Underground Fire Line- Pressure Test
- Underground Fire Line- Flush Test
Re-inspection- The following inspection should be requested only if required by a fire inspector during a previous visit.
- Re-inspection (A fee will be required to be paid when scheduling this inspection.)
AVAILABILITY AND TIMES
Construction inspections are available Monday through Thursday. The scheduled time is a window for the inspector's arrival. Inspections vary between 30 minutes to an hour in length for residential projects, and between an hour to two hours for commercial projects.
Some inspections will require that the inspection fee be paid prior to confirmation. Please be prepared to make a payment while scheduling those inspections. They are identified above.
CANCELLATIONS, RESCHEDULING, AND NO SHOWS
Inspections can be rescheduled or cancelled up to 48 hours prior to the requested date or time. The changes can be made online with no additional fees. Any inspection that may need to be rescheduled or cancelled less than 48 hours will need to be requested by contacting our administration office at (415)388-8182 or by emailing adminaide@smfd.org, and may be charged the reinspection fee of $203.00. No shows will be charged a fee of $203.00 prior to scheduling a new inspection.

FOLLOW UP
For hazard inspections, the fire inspector will be in contact with you after the inspection is completed. Please allow a minimum of 24 hours for the inspector to contact you.
RE-SALE INSPECTIONS
As of July 2021, State Assembly Bill 38 requires a seller of real property located in a High or Very High Fire Hazard Severity Zone to provide the buyer with documentation stating the property is in compliance with defensible space requirements. This inspection provides an opportunity to meet one-on-one with a fire inspector to assess your property for potential hazards and mitigation measures.

- Apartment/Condo Complex Inspection (1 Hour per building, more than 6 units)
